DJ Ruskin has held residencies at some of Mumbai’s premier bars when they were at the peak of their fame and buzz – think Henry Tham and until recently the world-class Dragonfly – on the city’s nightlife scene. He’s been DJing for over a decade-and-a-half, developing a distinctive flavour of sound that favours cutting-edge over commercialism, intelligence and originality over imitating popular trends.
With roots that began in the early 1990s at the then-popular Piano Bar and the dance music revolution that was J-49, Ruskin went on to win a Battle Of The DJs championship early in his career, shaking up older DJs across the country with his fresh sound, and in more recent years, playing the opening set for international superstar DJ John Digweed. He has always been at the right place at the right time, always evolving with the times while staying true to his vision, knowing when to exercise teasing restraint and when to unleash the madness.
